FOUR LIV GOLF LEAGUE CAPTAINS SET FOR THIS WEEK'S INTERNATIONAL SERIES OMAN

The Asian Tour’s International Series kicks off its 10-event season Thursday in Oman. More than 30 players with LIV Golf ties – including four captains for the 2023 LIV Golf League – are among the 132 players in the field at Al Mouj Golf in the port capital of Muscat.

Supported by LIV Golf, the International Series is a set of elevated events on the Asian Tour that offer enhanced purses as well as a pathway to playing privileges. Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent earned his spot in this year’s LIV Golf League by winning the International Series Order of Merit in last year’s inaugural season.

Full rosters for the 2023 LIV Golf League will be announced soon, but captains for the 12 teams introduced their brands during a Tuesday digital reveal. The four captains playing in Oman are Sergio Garcia (Fireballs GC), Brooks Koepka (Smash GC), Joaquin Niemann (Torque GC) and Louis Oosthuizen (Stinger GC). Garcia and Niemann are paired for the first two rounds.

In addition to those four, 21 other players who appeared in the season-ending LIV Golf Miami Team Championship last year are in the field. That list includes 2022 tournament winners Charl Schwartzel (LIV Golf London), Branden Grace (LIV Golf Portland) and Eugenio Chacarra (LIV Golf Bangkok). Koepka (LIV Golf Jeddah) also won an individual title last year.

Ten other players in Oman made at least one LIV Golf start during the inaugural season, including Andy Ogletree, winner of the final International Series event in 2022 in Egypt.

Major winners Koepka, Garcia, Oosthuizen, Schwartzel and Graeme McDowell help provide Oman with the strongest International Series field to date.

The first four International Series event are confirmed, with Qatar (Feb. 16-19) next week, followed by Thailand (March 9-12) and Vietnam (April 13-16).

“Besides the exciting lineup we already have confirmed helping us kickstart the 2023 season, our aim with the series has always been continued growth,” said Rahul Singh, head of the International Series. “With the names competing and the commitment we’ve made to growing the purses at each event, it shows we’re already achieving this in just our second season.”

Al Mouj Golf, a links-style course designed by LIV Golf Commissioner & CEO Greg Norman, is a par-72 course playing at more than 7,300 yards. It has hosted multiple professional events, including the Oman Open.
