Mandrem wins Foot Fest 2018
MAPUSA: Mandrem beat Pirna, 2-1 in the final to emerge winners of the 7-a-side inter parish football tournament organized by Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church Parish Youth of Moira on Sunday. Foot Fest 2018 was organized at A.A.de Moira club ground and witnessed the participating of 22 teams from various parishes across the length and breadth of Goa.

The winning team, Mandrem took home a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 15,000 while the runners-up team, Pirna was awarded a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

The best goalkeeper award went to Lesley Brito from Mandrem; the best player of the tournament went to Mison Brito from Mandrem and Macilson D'Souza from Pirna was adjudged as the promising player of the day.

The Chief Guest at the function was GFA Vice-President North Goa; Lavinio Rebello praised the winners and runners up teams and gave due to credit to the coaches who are grooming them.

“It is nice to see that the Parish Priest and the president of the Moira Youth has organised this tournament for the youth. Mandrem have a good coach, David D’souza and most of the players are with Dunes Sports Club. All the teams put up a commendable job in the tournament,” said Lavinio.

While the others present at the occasion at the prize distribution ceremony was the Moira Parish Youth Animator, Fr. Walter Rodrigues and the President of Moira Parish Youth, Jonas Fernandes.
