5 GFDC ACADEMY BOYS TO ATTEND U-15 BOY’S FOOTBALL TRIAL FOR NATIONAL TEAM

MARGAO: Five boys from the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) Residential Academy, Margao have been selected to attend a U-15 boy’s football trial camp for the National team. The camp begins from September 27 and the boys will report to the KIIT University Guest House Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The names of the five boys are Harsh Patre, Mevan Dias, Vellington Fernandes, Frevino Fernandes and Clarence Fernandes.

The Chairman of GFDC, Dr. Rufino Monteiro expressed immense happiness over this news. “It is a great moment for GFDC that our grassroots trainees have reached a stage where they are being selected for the national team trial camp. We wish the boys good luck and hope they keep the flag of Goan football flying high as it was in yesteryear's. I have great faith in our training methods which will unearth a lot more fantastic Goan football talent,” he said.

While the GFDC Member Secretary, Alexio Da Costa is extremely pleased that they have crossed the first milestone in giving the Goan youth a chance in the scouting programme of the AIFF. “Something like this was not done earlier and this probably is the reflection of the performance and success of GFDC,” told Alexio.

The trial camp had already started in the Kalinga Stadium, Odisha from September 24.
