PERPETUAL SUCCOUR CONVENT HS CROWNED CHAMPIONS

Perpetual Succour Convent HS Navelim were crowned Champions of the '2nd Chowgule Sports Centre Futsal League' powered by Nave Marg and organised by Youth Futsal Academy. In the Grand Finals Perpetual beat Marina English HS Verna 4-3 in the tie breaker after a pulsating forty minutes of regulation time ended 2-2 in front of a packed crowd.

Marina English took the lead after a fine finish from Addison Fernandes in the 2nd minute of the match. Taufique Gundar equalized for Perpetual with a neat placement past the keeper in the 11th minute. It was end to end electrifying futsal with both sets of school Principals, Students and Parents cheering their players on as they trotted into half time all square at 1-1.

Marina came out quicker in the second half and once again took the lead in the 23rd minute through the exciting left foot of Rizbeen D'costa to the delight of all the Marina fans. Sherlock Dias once again helped Perpetual back into the match scoring with his weaker left foot in the 34th minute to level the match again. Thereafter Sherlock almost won it for Perpetual but his shot rebounded of the post and into play much to the dismay of everyone supporting Perpetual. The game ended 2-2 and the winner was to decided from the dreaded spot.

Sherlock, Taufique, Addison and Johan Abranches missed the first two spot kicks for Perpetual and Marina respectively. Rizbeen scored to give Marina the lead as Jade Pires's Shot was stopped. Jaden Fernandes of Perpetual and Veagan Colado converted the next two as Marina stayed in the lead.Bothe Keepers Veagan and Jaden had made two fantastic saves at this stage. Jaden Fernandes equalized with the next kick as Skipper of Marina Snyder Dcosta stepped up to win it for Marina but he shot wide and thus the sudden death came into effect. Sherlock Dias scored this time for Perpetual as Rizbeen also converted for Marina in the sudden death. Taufique Gundar turned to be the Hero of the match as he converted his spot kick and stood in goal and denied Veagan Colado of Marina and sealing the victory for Perpetual in the tie breaker by 4-3.

Earlier Loyola HS Margao won the 3rd/4th place playoff match beating hosts YFA Warriors by 2-1. Kiam Pinto and Lester Oliveira scored for the winners while David Vaz scored for the Warriors.

The Chief Guest for the Day was Dr. Celso Fernandes of Nave Marg Foundation. He along with the Guest of Honour Mr Muktar Amlani of Cell Touch, Socorro George Vaz  Founder and Head Coach Youth Futsal Academy, Mr Sanjay Swain Manager CSC, Sister Alda Manager Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Mrs Edvida Gonsalves Headmistress Marina English HS Verna gave away the Trophies, certificates and Individual Awards.
