Morocco’s Benchetrit and Tamm of Estonia win ITF Men's World Tennis Tour titles in Qatar

 

Doha, Qatar:  Moroccan Elliot Benchetrit won the second Qatar ITF Men's World Tennis Tour which concluded at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex recently.

Benchetrit defeated Russia's Bogdan Bobrov 6-4, 6-3 in the final.

On way to the final, Benchetrit defeated Estonian Kristjan Tamm (6-4, 3-6, 6-1), Romanian Marius Copil (6-3, 6-2), Uzbekistan’s Khumoyun Sultanov (7-5, 6-2), to face, in the semi-final, the Australian Bernard Tomic.

The latter withdrew allowing the Moroccan to reach the final to meet Bobrov. This is the first title won by the Moroccan player in the year 2023.

Dutch duo, Dondres Dax and Puntjodekromo Sidane, won the doubles title moving past India's Somani Parikshit and Uzbek Khumoyun Sultanov 6-3, 7-5.

Earlier, in the first Qatar ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour, Kristjan Tamm of Estonia defeated Copil 7-6, 7-6 to win the singles title.

In the men’s doubles, India's Somani and Uzbek Sultanov defeated Italy’s Jacopo Berrettini and Kristjan 7-6, 6-2 to finish on top.
