Rashid Hamad of Qatar still in the race to get Olympic quota for Tokyo Games

Rashid Hamad, who represented Qatar at the 2008 Games in Beijing and the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, is one shooter, who was in the race to get the nod provided he fared well in some of the World Cups.

In the Cyprus World Cup, held in the first week of this month, the 33-year-old Rashid failed to make it to the final round.  He finished with a score of 120, missing only five targets.

Rashid started with a perfect score in the first round but missed out on two and three targets in the second and third round and although he had a perfect score of 25 in the fourth and fifth round that was not enough for him to make it to the final round of six shooters.

At the same event, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, who is bidding to qualify for his seventh Olympic Games, finished in the 14 spot with a score of 122 but he too could not make it to the final medal round in Cyprus.

Both, Nasser and Rashid were also hoping to do well at the World Cup in India which got cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak
