Pro-athlete aims for world record by running across Qatar
under 35 hours
"To circumnavigate the world by running is my dream
expedition and I am preparing myself to accomplish that,” says India’s Sufiya
Sufi, but the world expedition will have to wait. Currently she is on Qatar
mission.
Three-Time Guinness World Record Holder, Indian
Ultrarunner Sufiya is synonymous with taking challenges that go beyond human
limits. Sufiya is now set for her next expedition, ‘Run Across Qatar’ – south
to north.
With the ‘Run Across Qatar’ challenge, Sufiya will
attempt a Guinness World Record to clock the Fastest Known Time to run across
the nation as well as raise awareness towards leading a healthy lifestyle.
The 2-day expedition will begin at Abu Samra on 12th
January 2023 at 06:00 AM, followed by Doha, and conclude at ZULAL Wellness
Resort in Al Ruwais, on 13th January 2023.
Covering 190+ km on the expedition, Sufiya will pass
through the difficulties of running in a completely new environment, battling
through dry climatic conditions, and aiming to break the previous world record
by covering the distance in under 34 hours.
Sufiya will be accompanied by 3 team members during this
Run.

Sufiya Sufi, age 37, is a renowned ultrarunner from India
best known for her ultra- distance running challenges across the country.
Sufiya rose to prominence in 2019 when she became the fastest female runner to
complete the Trans India Running challenge 4000km in just 87 days.
She holds the world record for the fastest runner to
finish the Golden Quadrilateral Road Run 6000 km, Manali-Leh Himalayan Ultra
Run Challenge, and Siachen-Kargil
Ultra-Run.
Sufiya holds 3 Guinness World Records for her various
ultra-distance running expeditions.
