cricketing journey at 7 nations Caribbean Mini World Cup Masters tournament in
Barbados
Goan cricketer Ambey represented
UAE, for upcoming MASTERs World Cup in 2023 to be held in South
Africa
UAE finshed fourth in the
eight-nation tournament which included an Indian team
Doha Qatar: There is no stopping
for Goa’s former Ranji trophy Ambey Parwatkar who continues to excel on the
cricket field this time at the 7 nations Caribbean Mini World Cup Masters tournament
played at Barbados.
Representing UAE, at age 50 Ambey
is part of the team which has made the semi-finals of the tournament which will
take place on November 9 against the United States of America which was washed
off and UAE had to finish fourth with USA qualifying for the final based on
their group stage performance.
In the other semis West Indies
(Barbados) vs England match was also washed off due to rain.
Of the other teams taking part,
favorites India, West indies (Trinidad) failed to make the knockouts. They will
play for the plate positions along with Canada and Wales.
Ambey has been playing cricket for
the last 37 years of cricket playing 16 first class games for Goa, Mumbai and
for UAE national team.
He played for four first class
teams in India, UAE and in South Africa and the honor of playing the game in
England, UAE, Nepal, Australia, Oman, Pakistan, Holland, Kenya, Iran, Belgium,
South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia and Barbados besides India.
He has also been International
Match Referee, consultant coach, junior selector and is also a content creator
with his own YouTube channel and written a few books.
In Barbados, Ambey bowled a tidy
spell against West Indies of 7.0.13.1 and scored the winning runs staying
Unbeaten on 4 in a low scoring rain reduced game UAE 145 for 8 in 33.3 overs
winning against West Indies 144 for 8 in 34 overs.
Earlier, UAE's Match Against
England was washed off. In Their last league game against Canada, UAE batted
first and scored only 95 all out in 33.3 overs, but fought hard before ending
up on the losing side with Canada beating UAE by 4 wickets with 3 overs to
spare. Ambey again with his mystery spin bowled exceptionally well in power
play with the new ball 7.2.10.1 Nothing stopped UAE from qualifying into the
semis.
Ambey, who is working in Dubai for
last 30 years as a Division Manager for leading Indian company Yogi Group has
played cricket in 15 countries is also shortlisted in 20 probable for the UAE
Team for upcoming MASTERs World Cup in 2023 to be held in South
Africa .
